Omanexpo signs up Kanoo as Official Logistics Sponsor

Muscat, Oman, 15 February 2010 – Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo & Co. will serve as the “Official Logistics Sponsor” of Omanexpo’s two upcoming major exhibitions, namely the Interiors & Buildex 2010 on March 15-17 and the seventh Oil & Gas West Asia (OGWA) Exhibition and Conference on April 11-13.

“We are glad to be associated with both Interiors & Buildex and OGWA, which are among the biggest trade events in the region, and we look forward to greatly contributing to the success of these shows as the Official Logistics Sponsor,” said Colin Clarke, Executive General Manager, Kanoo Freight.

Established in Bahrain way back in 1890, Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo & Co. is one of the largest, independent, family-owned groups of companies in the Gulf region. The company has been operating extensively in the United Arab Emirates and Oman since the early 1960s. Starting out initially in the trading and shipping business, it has grown over the years to become a diversified business conglomerate whose activities encompass travel and shipping, machinery and industrial chemicals, oil & gas, power and industrial projects, as well as cargo services and exhibition services.

Kanoo’s range of cargo services includes customs clearing, door-to-door services, inland haulage and overland transportation, warehousing and distribution, airline cargo GSAs, and international freight forwarding. Kanoo Exhibition Services, on the other hand, has over 20 years of experience in exhibition freight, and its services include import and export of goods via air, see and land, clearing and forwarding, and on-site handling.

As the Official Logistics Sponsor of Interiors & Buildex 2010 and OGWA 2010, Kanoo will be responsible for clearing the cargo of exhibitors, ensure the timely delivery of goods to the exhibition centre, respond to all customs-related inquiries, and eventually handle the forwarding of exhibitor goods back to their country of origin immediately after each exhibition. Kanoo will also be the only company allowed to operate any lifting equipment on-site. With the strong participation of international exhibitors in both exhibitions, the role of Kanoo is very crucial in effectively addressing all logistical challenges at both Interiors & Buildex 2010 and OGWA 2010.

“Having Kanoo as the Official Logistics Sponsor in two of our biggest trade exhibitions gives us the peace of mind that all cargo-related issues will be handled properly and professionally during these events,” said Nasser Diab, general manager of Omanexpo, the pioneer exhibition management company in Oman and the leading organiser of major trade shows in the sultanate.

Interiors & Buildex is one of the biggest events in the region for the building and construction industry, which is now experiencing rapid growth with the implementation of various multimillion-dollar projects in many parts of the sultanate. First launched in 2003, the three-day international exhibition showcases all types of building materials construction equipment and interior furnishings.

OGWA, for its part, is also one of the largest energy events in the Middle East region, and it has consistently attracted the participation of many national oil & gas companies from the GCC, international oil & gas majors, leading local companies and other service providers. Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Oil & Gas, the event highlights the continued development of the region’s oil & gas industry and also serves as a forum for discussing the challenges facing the industry.
