Oman’s pioneer company for the exhibitions and conferences industry Omanexpo is high on its heels preparing for the 8th edition of its most prestigious and established event OGWA (Oil & Gas West Asia) Exhibition & Conference 2012. The event, recognized as one of the largest energy shows in the Middle East region, is set to be held from April 16 to 18, 2012 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.
As proof its status as the most established event in the Sultanate, OGWA has, as early as now, booked more than 65 per cent of the exhibition space from local and international companies, and from various countries to represent national pavilions. The numbers are steadily mounting and are anticipated to reach the targets even months prior to the event date. It anticipates to exceed the over-300 local and international companies and 35 countries who participated in OGWA 2010.
As in previous editions of OGWA, it will be, once again, an event of global significance, capitalizing on the ever-growing demand for oil that has stimulated the need for large-scale exploration and expansion projects and investments all over the Sultanate and in the region.
OGWA 2012 will draw together the largest group of oil and gas companies from the GCC region, international oil and gas majors, technology and service providers, and other local and international companies that play a major role in the development of the oil and gas sector. It will also introduce a CEO Forum, which is a first in the region, and will be participated in by key business executives, policy makers, and technical experts from leading oil and gas companies who will share their views in line with the government’s thrust to tap more renewable energy sources and develop more economic oil recovery projects.
Of equal significance is the Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Technical Conference, which will be held alongside the exhibition, where Omanexpo has partnered yet again with the reputable Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
At the OGWA press conference at the Intercontinental Muscat on Sunday, general manager Nasser Diab said, “We are promising a bigger and better edition of OGWA 2012 with the participation of SPE as our Conference Content Partner to provide new ideas and a fresher approach to the conference aspect of the show.”
“The oil and gas environment is getting more vibrant than ever, especially with the government’s ongoing projects such as the Sohar Refinery expansion project and the massive Duqm Development Project. The development of a refinery and petrochemical complex in Duqm will provide upstream and downstream opportunities for the industrial site and will help attract investment to Oman as a whole. By way of OGWA, we provide a ready platform to showcase petrochemical products arising from these refineries and will hopefully meet current local demand and further support exports,” he added.
Head of SPE and director general of Oil and Gas Exploration and Production of the Ministry of Oil & Gas Dr. Zaid Al Siyabi and Technical Advisor of the Ministry of Oil & Gas HE Khalifa bin Mubarak Al Hinai formed part of the press conference panel.
OGWA 2012 is a UFI-approved event that has consistently been supported by the Ministry of Oil & Gas and the biggest oil and gas companies in the region. OGWA 2012 will exhibit an extensive range of products, services, equipment, and technologies for oil and gas operations.
