PDO Reaffirms its Participation at Omanexpo’s Oil & Gas Event

For the eighth time since Omanexpo launched the first oil and gas exhibition in Oman in 1998, Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has once again signed another strategic partnership with the company for its prestigious Oil & Gas West Asia (OGWA) Exhibition and ConferenceOGWA, recognized as one of the largest energy shows in the Middle East region and certified by international association UFI, is set to be held from April 16 to 18, 2012 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.

“Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) will establish a strong presence in OGWA 2012 as several geologists, reservoir engineers and other industry specialists will present papers and deliver talks on the latest technologies adopted by PDO to overcome challenges,” said Suleiman bin Mohammed al Mantheri, PDO’s External Affairs and Communication Manager.

PDO is the primary oil and gas exploration and production company in Oman, accounting for more than 70% of the country’s crude-oil production and almost all of its natural gas supply.  It plays a key role in educating and developing local talent through its comprehensive education and training programs and in supporting local businesses and communities.

Omanexpo’s general manager Nasser Diab said, “This alliance marks another significant step forward for both companies.  It comes at a time when there is a much-greater need to boost the oil and gas industry in Oman, despite and amid the encouraging heavy investments made by big energy companies in oil and gas exploration projects of late.  With PDO’s support of OGWA 2012, we achieve much easier our objectives of serving as an avenue to help meet rising sector demands as well as educate people about the present state of the industry.”

OGWA 2012 will bring together the largest group of oil and gas companies from the GCC region, international oil and gas majors, technology and service providers, and other local and international companies that play a major role in the development of the oil and gas sector.  It will showcase an extensive range of products, services, equipment, and technologies for oil and gas operations.

An Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Technical Conference managed and organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), will be held alongside the exhibition. And for the first time in the region for the industry, Omanexpo will introduce a CEO Forum that will gather key business executives, policy makers, and technical experts from leading oil and gas companies who will share their views in line with the government’s thrust to tap more renewable energy sources and develop more economic oil recovery projects.

OGWA 2012 is supported by the Ministry of Oil & Gas and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Huron Consulting Group as a Conference Session Sponsor, Agility as its Official Logistics Partner, and InterContinental Muscat as its Official Hotel.
