Gas Production and
Consumption Rise Rapidly
The Sultanate of Oman has
emerged as a major international
exporter and consumer of natural
gas. Extensive gas exploration
is in
progress in many parts of the
country, while production is
continuously posting
unprecedented growth. Consider
the following:
●
|
The Sultanate's natural
gas production soared by 28.2
percent during the first half of
2006, compared to the same
period last year. |
● |
Total gas production
reached 498,957 million cubic
feet from January to June 2006. |
● |
Oman currently exports up
to 9 million tons of LNG to many
countries including South Korea
and Japan. |
● |
Gas supplies from
Petroleum Development Oman rose
to over 43 million cubic meters
per day in 2005. |
With the establishment of major
industrial areas such as the
Salalah Free Zone and Sohar
Industrial Port, Omani gas
demand and consumption will
increase considerably in coming
years. There are strong
prospects for growth in this
area: OGWA 2010 will provide the
perfect opportunity to present
products, services, and
equipment for gas-based
industries.
